View Full Version : Favorite Chapter of HBP?
Since Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is such a long book, there are many good chapters in it!
Which chapter was your favorite and why?
Was it exciting, funny, or just plain interesting?
Were you introduced to a new character that you like or did you just learn some nice new information in it?
Share what you liked the best and why!
Wow - I cant even begin to pick one!
I mean - from Spinner's End and onwards each chapter revealed more and more!
It really is hard to pick a clear winner in them all - I gave this a lot of thought as I read the book and still now I cant decide which was stood above the rest - it is easier to tell you which one I thought was the worse - that being chapter one - I just didnt like that as a starter although see the reasons it was added.
So yah - I will re-read again and see but right now - anything past chapter one was dynamite!

I didn't have a clear winner either, I would say everything from the part where Harry had to force Dumbledore to drink the potion on was my favorite. Not because of the death, but because it was where all the action was....

I agree with Wealsleyfanforever that that part of the book was my favorite. No offense, but there wasn't really any... action in the first half of the book, was there?
I really liked the Spinner's End and the White Tomb, because it was so.. unexpected and tragic! For some reason, :D I liked seeing Fudge in the Prime Minister's office in the first chapter too! It was kind of funny. LOL
My favorite -- probably a toss-up between "Horace Slughorn" and "After the Burial." Guess who my favorite character is?...
I've got some out-there ideas about Slughorn -- I loved several key moments in those two chapters:
"They stood back to back, the tall thin wizard and the short round one, and waved their wands in one identical sweeping motion;"
"His pale gooseberry eyes had found Dumbledore's injured hand." then "You're quite right. I am undoubtedly slower than I was. But on the other hand..."
"you're asking me, in fact, to aid you in your attempt to destroy --"
It seemed to me that there was a lot more to Slughorn than what was to be taken from a first-read. Chock-full of mystery. I'll post about it when I've been here long enough to feel brave.
Of course, a particular passage in "Felix Felicis" made me laugh out loud, the best line being, "There was a pause while Harry continued to pound the resilient pod with a trowel." Better than the eels or the plunger, I think.
