I wonder...
In HBP, a will of Sirius's was found that stated that the Grimmauld Place was Harry's was found. Even then, Sirius had left a will even though he wasn't old anything, but, if I assume correctly, he left one because he was part of the Order and was always in a dangerous position.

So.. I'm assuming that Dumbledore had probably left one, too. :p

What do you think would be stated in it? ;)

See, one of the big differences between Sirius and Dumbledore is that Sirius seemed to have a lot more material possessions. I can't really see Dumbledore actually owning a house that he would pass on to someone - Hogwarts was his home. In addition, all the possessions of his that we've ever seen have been the things that are in his office at the school - and that's not a lot.

Still, he did have Fawkes, his Pensieve, and other things such as that. We've been discussing the Pensieve elsewhere and depending upon the rarity of such an item, it is possible that the Ministry will now allow it to be passed on to someone else, but maybe even take it into the Department of Mysteries to examine it - although I am sure certain people might raise some hell if this was to happen.. fact remains that we have yet to see another one like it..

I do wonder who he will leave Fawkes too, because that bird was something that he seemed to care about above lots of other things - and obviously the love went both ways. I can't really see him leaving Fawkes to Harry, because Harry certainly has enough to deal with and I don't know if he'd be able to handle another bird in addition to Hedwig. I suppose he might have left Fawkes to McGonagall but i'm not sure about that either.. maybe Hagrid, knowing how loyal he was to him for the great majority of his life, and knowing that Hagrid would look after Dumbledore's pet with so much care..

You know, Dumbledore knew a lot of people - it will be quite interesting to see if he favored certain friends by leaving them his possessions. He may have decided not to, and maybe he never even wrote a will. I don't know if I can see him doing this, either, but I think it would be hard for him to pick favorites to give certain items to.. we'll just have to see I suppose :)

You also have to remember he has a brother - Aberforth, who logically would get some of Dumbledore's possessions. If in fact, Aberforth is his only relative, I'd assume he'd get some things - but Dumbledore will probably leave Harry the things he possesses that he feels will help Harry finish the job he is prophesized to complete.

I wonder if he'll have left Harry his socks. After all, Harry was the only person that DD admitted to wanting socks...

Dumbledore seemed to be prepared for most things throughout the septology so far, so I am guessing his death was something else he had prepared for. If he had a will, I am sure things would go to the order, or whoever is in charge now. The gadgets in his office i think will stay there too.

I don't know if you were serious here, but I think that was a load of waffle and just Dumbledore's way of telling a little white lie so as not to have to tell Harry what he really saw..
ES: A couple of follow-ups on that, then — what would he [Voldemort] see if he were in front of the mirror of Erised?

JKR: Himself, all-powerful and eternal. That's what he wants.

ES: What would Dumbledore see?

JKR: I can't answer that.
.. otherwise I think she probably would've answered that the way Dumbledore did in PS/SS.. right? ;)

I'd forgotten about Aberforth, and we do know he cared about his brother because he was the one who tried to get him out of trouble for the goat charms - lol. He will probably leave something to him, though I can't imagine what that may be.. I wonder if certain people know exactly what the silver whirring trinkets do, and as such they might go to the Order because they are things that would be useful for them..

Dumbledore might have even left some things to the Ministry, even though he wasn't on good terms with them at the end - I can just see him doing that..

I think in his will, and I'm positive there is one, he would have left alot of instructions. and yes Abeforth would likely receive any material or monetary possesions. The instruments would have gone to the order, or specificaly anyone in the order who knew how to use each specific one. the pensive. . .I don't know that we've been told that it's "rare" exactly, we just haven't seen any others, however all older wizards and witches seem aware of how to remove a memore and store it in a vial to be used in a pensive, so most likely they are around. i think it likely it will be left to Harry so he can continue the quest for the Horcruxes.
