So, many of us saw OoTP as a pinnacle book for questions raised ..
Seems that pretty much all those details were never addressed in book 6 - what I take to be JKR's attempt to clear up all the small, minor questions ...
We had so many questions left over after reading OoTP - and it just seems to me like JKR left it there - not many of those questions were addressed in HBP ...

I suppose what we could do is re-cap all the biggest questions we had from OoTP - check our details of HBP for any answers - then speculate to the possible answers that will come with book 7 ..

Some of the events that come to mind for me is the whole James, Lily and Snape relationships - the fact that JKR spent a great deal of energy showing us the young Snape and his exposure's at school - never to really touch upon them in HBP ...
We are all, of course, sure that there is a direct link to all these events of Snape's school life, his relationship with the Potters and possibly how he became so entwined in all this ...

First big question that is still unanswered and will surely be answered in book 7 is - what about the mirror Harry was given by Sirius and what impact will it have in the final book?

What really happened the night of the attack - according to questions answered by JKR, she didn't come right out and say as much, but it seems there was another person present the night Voldemort attacked the Potters. Was it possibly, Snape?

What did Dumbledore see in the tiny instrument that showed him a snake splitting into two snakes?

Remember Mundungus and his attention to the Black family silver in OotP - will some of the things he stole from Grimmauld Place be important in book 7?

Well you beat me to that one Fort!

I also wanted to know about Harry learning occlumency! It was left nearly alone throughout HBP untill the end when Snape was running with Draco and deflecting all of Harry's attempts to curse him, saying what an open book Harry's mind was, that he could read every one of his thoughts. Snape even chastised Harry for not closing his mind. I kept waiting for Dumbledore to teach Harry Occlumency, but it was never even brought up! I think Harry will need it in book 7 if he is to have any chance of defeating Voldemort.

unanswered questions for me: The Veil, of course!! What is it, and what's the purpose? How will we hear from Sirius again?

Why did Snape just switch to the Good Side? What was the reson? (partially answered, but not quite sufficient for me! ;))

What is the locked door in the Ministry?

Is Dumbledore evil'?? (don't think he is, by the looks of it, but I need proof! ;)) lol

What is the significance of Grindelwald? JKR said in her TLC/Mugglenet interview that he was important - why?

What did Dudley hear when the dementors attacked him and Harry in OotP? I wanna know what he's so afraid of .. ;)

What is Dumbledore's Boggart? And what did he really see in the Mirror of Erised?

And of course, what is the deal with deciding to become a ghost? That was the last unanswered question in OotP that wasn't addressed in HBP at all.. what is the revelance to the dead person being happy?

Ok, I've noticed when HBP came out that alot of people said they were dissapointed because it didn't have all the answers that they wanted.

I personally felt this way also... I would have liked to learn a bit more about Lily and James Potter, their life after school. Also maybe learn a bit more about Dumbledore's history as a kid in school? Also, maybe a bit more background on Snape.

So what else were you looking for? What was not in HBP that you think might be book 7? :)

I was looking for more information on the Department of Mysteries. We saw so much of it at the end of OotP that I thought for sure we would be hearing more of it in HBP. I think HBP was used to clear up the smaller mysteries and intrigues of the series and the last book is reserved for all those lingering questions about Dumbledore, Snape, Lily/James, etc. It's going to be the best one yet!
