View Full Version : The Ring
We see Slytherin's ring at the beginning, Dumbledore is wearing it, and again in his office, then Harry comments on it being gone, do we see it again after that point? The point where Harry notes it's missing and then asks about the mouth organ?
I have looked, and did not find it again, but I could have missed something. Kind of odd that he would be wearing it, then have it on display in his office, and then nothing.
Umm - will have to go look at that as well maybe - we have some keen observers here - chances are they will get this one before I re-cap :o
I often wondered what became of the ring as well ... we know it was cracked, that would suggest that the Horcrux was exorcised and Dumbledore's arm wasnt just hurt with one of it's protections ... umm

Not really. If anyone knew about the ring and came into the office to see him it could have raised some uncomfortable questions. I think it was a good idea to hide it for security measure and to protect the secret of the horcrux hunt.
I don't think it is odd that Dumbledore wears the ring. I think it is perfectly within his character to have taken a fancy to the peice of jewelry. This is a man who like muggles knitting patterns, gum drops and talks about the room of requirment being full of chamber pots AT DINNER. Wearing Slytherin's ring isn't abnormal.
Also think of it this way, he could have worn it as a trophy. After doing all the work to destroy the horocrux, I would think he is entitled to wear the prop.
I just meant that it was a little strange that we don't know where it went after it left display in his office.

I tend to agree as well really - I like things to be tied up nice and square rather than niggling doubts - given that HBP look to be full of just answers - I wonder if the ring might still be seen - afterall is said and done - it is a Slytherin heirloom that also belonged to Gaunt - Voldemort's Grandad ...
I think even thou the Horcrux is gone - I think the ring still holds value just for being a Slytherin heirloom.
