......and either must die at the hands of the other for neither can live while the other survives......
Several theories have evolved regarding Voldermort being allowed to live, I think in this quote from the prophecy we can all read that it is not possible for both Harry and Voldermort to survive. Assuming Voldermort dies we all know what happens and the need to read book seven is somewhat reduced (aside from the obvious desire to see how it all plays out - plotline etc.) However, there is a third alternative, they could both die!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bare with me on this one a little longer (he says as half the readers log off in disgust at such a heinous thought  ) What if Voldermort was trying to kill one of Harry's loved ones, the obvious candidate for this being Ginny, and Harry steps in and takes the AK himself, thus Harry dies but the sacrifice he makes (please don't assume exactly the same results as with Lilly and Harry. Harry already has special powers and protections that none of us really understand so work with me on this one) also causes the destruction of Voldermort. Maybe the two "brother" wands combining in a similar way to the way they did in GoF in the graveyard scene. Yet again the subjects of love and choices!!!!!!!
