View Full Version : Ginny Weasley
Not sure if this should go here or in wild speculation or septology analysis. But anyway, here goes.......
The Weasleys have a lot of kids. Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred and George, Ron and then Ginny.
She is the only female sibling in the family and (only just realised a few days ago) is the Weasleys' SEVENTH child!!!
With seven being the most powerfully magical number, does this mean that Ginny will have a big part to play in the final book (book no. 7!) (will she defeat Voldemort by unleashing her all powerful bat bogey hex.....only joking)
what does everyone else think...............
Well - I once said she wouldnt ever be Harry's woman - guess I blew that ...
I think Ginny is very important based on one thing - she knows things about Riddle from the diary.
It was said by Riddle he started to tell her things - pour a little on himself into her - I think her reason for not sleeping too well (as mentioned in HBP) is that maybe she is older now - feeling more confident - and willing to explore those things in her head that she supressed because of youth and it scaring her.
I think locked up in that head is at least one clue, one thing that will help Harry either locate a Horcrux or help Harry defeat Voldemort ...
I actually just posted this in the seven is a magical number thread, but I'll also mention here that JKR has brought up the fact that Ginny is the seventh child. She said that the reason Ginny is so powerful is that she is the seventh child of a seventh child, etc. on down the line, so all those sevens in her heritage have come together to make her a very potent witch.
I definitely think Ginny could come into play in the last book, but I don't think she will be the one to defeat Voldemort . . . just that she'll help in a fairly big way.
I agree - I dont think she will kill Voldemort - afterall the prophecy and all - but I just wonder if Voldemort might use her as bait. I still feel that locked up in that head might just be the slightest clue - something Dumbledore couldnt have found out about Riddle/Voldemort - yet Riddle told Ginny thinking she was destine to die in the end anyways.
Remember - the Riddle in the diary never got to speak to the Voldemort of now - ergo Voldemort has no idea what his younger self might have said to Ginny!

I certainly hope she plays a big part in it. I don't see JKR making such a potentially strong female character end up just being Harry's latest love interest.
I think much was made of how impressed Slughorn was with her bat bogey hex - not just to invite her to his first meeting of the Slug Club - but to keep inviting her.
I think given the recent comments by Boingy - I think all ther signs are there she has her part to play other than hanging off of Harry's arm (or face :p ) ...

Actually, after some giving it more thought, I think she's directly in line with killing Voldemort. JKR has a tendancy to have rather Tolkienesque storylines. Dumbledore being Gandalf (wise old wizard guardian of the young, lost hero. Killed in the story, yer will return from the dead, just like Gandalf did, to help bring the story to conclusion..), Harry being Frodo (he bears the mark, much like Frodo bore the ring, and he resents being the one thrust into the situation yet faces it bravely), Wormtail being Gollum (A twisted servant of the dark that won't make his true loyalties, or agenda, known until the very end...) etc.. I see Ginny as Aowyn. She may indeed not ice Voldemort personally, but she will have a major kill in the story, much like Aowyn killed the Witchking. Maybe Snape before his loyalties are fully established? Maybe Malfoy? Hermione or Fleur could easily fill this role as well. Keep in mind, the Goblet of Fire chose Fleur as the most worthy to be champion. She's more than just Bill's nurse. And Hermy, everyone knows she's one tough cookie..
I'm in awe of just how much ground JKR is going to have to cover in just one final book. That thing is gonna be thicker than the Holy Bible! LOL, I can't wait...
I am not too familiar with the books of LoTR - I of course have seen the films :o
I have heard it a few times - comparisons between the two - but I know the die hard LoTR fans get pretty angry when you mention both series in the same breath!
I think what was clever of JKR was the way she had Ginny sitting in the background - then bought her out a bit with OoTP - thrusting her into the limelight with HBP.
It was becoming clear she was becoming a bit of a heart throb - but sadly for me I always felt her and Harry was just a fanfic writers material - in fact it was one part I didnt like in HBP.
But her significance is just starting to show and JKR quite rightly made some clever character play to get her right into the mix at the end of HBP.
Well, isn't it all about love?
We have Dumbledore's theory about the strongest magic (Love)
We have Harry's initial salvation coming from the choice his mother made that somehow transmutated her love into protection for Harry.
We saw how Harry's love for Sirius saved him from Voldemort at the ministry of magic.
Did we see Dumbledore make the same sacrifice as Lily on the lightning struck tower? He may have chosen death as a final sacrifice for the sake of Harry. Was Harry infused with even more love through Dumbledore's "choice"?
And now, as Harry must meet his greatest challenge, he is armoured with the deepest love of all: the love between a couple. Harry and Ginny love each other very truly.
My concern is whether Ginny must die in order for Harry to finally succeed.
I think Harry breaking up with her would have come but all too late anyways ..
We know she will become a target to Voldemort - Draco was seeing what was happening between the two or would have heard and of course he is on his way back to Voldemort now ... so would seem logical for Voldemort to get her and use her as a weapon against Harry - to turn the love that defeated him into a weapon that may help him defeat Harry!
