Nifflers

I was covering Goblet of Fire again recently and a thought occured to me.

In GoF was are intoroduced to Nifflers - little things that are very good at locating treasure and the likes that is hidden.

I was wondering if JKR might have created them as a possible tool from Harry?
If you think about it - he needs to locate certain items - possibly of value - and I wonder if he might remember Nifflers and perhaps get one for himself?

I am sure that the items he needs to look for are magically protected - but these little critters would be good for locating an item if he can find a location?

Well spotted, Alz...It's probably a good thing Harry has an in with Hagrid. What might he need to uncover?

I'm not thinking so much about buried items - more just concealed.
I just wonder if Harry comes across and area he thinks is a likely spot - he could let a Niffler loose and see what it sniffs out.
Sounds a bit far fetched - but also seems that the Niffler was under used in GoF - it was introduced and then gone ...
I guess I just attribute it's abilities to be something Harry could make use of.
