Yes, this is totaly off the wall, and really just for fun. . . but. . .;)
It makes sense to assume that Santa is a Wizard, and the elves. . . well Hogwarts has lots of elves too. . . so what if Hermionie finds out? Would that be the end of Santa????

whatever you do, don't tell my kids - they like Hermione now but I fear they will begin HTA (Hermione To Azkaban)campaign if they hear about this lol
Ps. Have we had a thread for Hermione being evil yet? lol

Shhhhhhhhh! Alz doesn't need anymore ?iE ideas! Although hmmmmm. . . :p could be some evidence I suppose.:D
Actually i think there is a thread that casts some doubt on her credability :p
Isnt Santa's helpers toy elves and not House Elfs - or am I committing a gramatical faux paux?
Elf versus Elves anyone?

Just a little footnote here but has anyone other than me noticed that Santa is an anagram of Satan?

OMG! ROFLMBO!!!!!:D :D :D That's the hardest I've laughed in days! (note to Alz, can we get a "laughing hystericaly" smiley?)
However, I think the Santa iE theory has been around for quite a long time. And yes, I heard about that anagram a long time ago. Also heard (not sure whether true or not) that Santa was created at the turn of the century by a large department store trying to sell more toys. Possible I guess. But I think something should be done about those poor little elves.;)
Guys, Santa's elves are FREED: They wear clothes (and apparently have better taste than Dobby); ergo, Santa isn't evil. Besides, isn't he an elf himself? ("He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf...")

I know that this is a site for HP discussion but as it's Christmas time I'll give you the origins of Santa.
Santa Claus is a verbal corruption of Saint Niklas who was a Turkish nobleman quite some time ago in history. Unlike most of the rich of his time he used his money to help the poor, amongst other things, by riding round in a horse drawn carrige in November every year and giving gifts to the children. He was later cannonised as a recognition of his good works and given the name Saint Niklas (Or Nicholas as we in the UK and USA know him). As far as his visual image is concerned it comes from a Coca-Cola comercial from the early part of the 20th century, I beleive they based the design on the red and white of Coca-cola and the Norwegian tradition of "Nisser". Norwegian children's stories and legends are full of these "Nisser" of all different kinds, most notably, Blå Nisser, Rød Nisser and Jule (pronopunced Yoola)Nisser. Nisser is best translated as Gnomes, blå means blue, rød mean red and Jul (yool) means Christmas. Jule Nisser are clothed in red with white trim with a red pointed/floppy hat and they have white beards. Picture an english garden gnome and you have a relatively good image.
Ohhhh noooooo!!!! Santa is a gnome and therefor very irritating and clearly does not live at the North Pole, he lives in Ron's garden.;)
Anyone want to help out on Elfs versus Elves?
That could be the decider!

ROFL. . . Again!:D Let's all line our kids up at the Burrow!

The only thing I know is that "Elves" is just the proper way of pluralizing "Elf" and that "Elfs" is just gramaticaly incorrect. Is there supposed to be more to it than that?

I'm with you on this SPF, don't think that "Elfs" should ever really be used unless with and apostrophy to denote ownership ie. elf's
What was the point of the thread again?
Hahaha, yeah, well I think Santa's elves could be like the ones at Hogwarts. House elves are supposed to be smart right!? Have you ever wondered how your presents get under the Christmas tree and no one has ever seen Santa!?
And Alz, "elfs" is 'gramatically' incorrect.

Geez! I just got around to this thread..Thank You all for making me spit my coffee all over the table this morning!Rolling with laughter is a perfect way to start the day:D :D Are you sure you guys haven't been into the Ogden's Firewhiskey?:D Oh, and Alz even though elfs is grammatically incorrect...Jo herself used elfs a couple of times, so give yourself a pat on the back!:D :D
Soooo - what we are saying is that in English - Elf's is fine?
Because I have to admit - I never felt the inclination to put Elves and really did think they were two different things!
Hence the confusion on the thread - like hello, Elf's and Elves :o
