The Chapter, Norbert The Norwegian Ridgeback revolves largely around Hagrid and his deepest desire to have a dragon – this desire becomes a constant during the Septology; not only for dragons but for all types of creatures. Will we eventually see Hagrid's abilities with animals as the downfall or even the triumph of Voldemort!?

I am not sure if it will be his downfall or his triumph but I can see where you are going with this. All the creatures in the forbidden forest know him and none would harm him - well except the Centaurs, but that was because he interfered in their world. Before that they were on good terms with him. Hagrid said to Harry in Chapter 15 of PS/SS that as long as he was with Hagrid or Fang that nothing would hurt him in the forest. He was wrong there as in CoS Aragog attempts to kill Ron and Harry.

I think Hagrid would have the abilitiy to get all the creatures of the forest and some from elsewhere too to join Dumbledore and the Order for the war against Voldemort.

I think Hagrid relates to animals because there is an equal respect - he is good with them.
I think he knows he isnt the sharpest knife in the drawer - and so tries to be intelligent and clever when aorund others - even thou he knows he is mocked by a few ...
With animals it is equal respect - and I think Hagrid enjoys the freedom of himself.
I always looked at it that Hagrid would probably die at the hand of a creature - probably trying to appeal to it's better nature ... he seems to like the obscure animals the best!

I think he could be useful in getting creatures onside with Dumbledore - some of the creatues we have seen could be considered useful if a battle was in order.

I agree - it would probably be by accident too, as you say he is not the brightest and may overlook something in his care of a particular magical creature which could lead to his downfall.

I guess this mutual respect thing is how I see Hagrid getting these creatures to work for good rather than evil, Voldemort does his recruiting by instilling fear rather than by caring and respecting others!

I have thought, since OoTP that if Hagrid was to die then it would be at the hands of a giant. Killed at the hands of the half of himself that he never got to know that well. The animals he has been around could kill him but it wasn't until OoTP that I really saw Hagrid hurt and wounded in any real way.

I think that whilst most animals understand him and accept him I dont think the other giants will because of his size and because they have limited social skills - putting the last part politely!

Well, I really dont think that Hagrid will be killed by one of the dangerous creatures he seems to like to keep as pets, or whatever - another creature is possible though I guess. I just think that it would be way too predictable, since it is widely known that he likes dangerous creatures.

Although his attempt to convince all the Giants to join the Order failed, I think Grawp seems to be becoming more civil (haha) and potentially useful for the Order in HBP. Maybe there are other creatures who the Order will try to win over that Hagrid will be able to help with..

I think Hagrid's affinity with the creatures of the magical world is important - as in JKR has shown time and time again that even the most fearsome creatures in the world seem to bond with Hagrid.
Still - I think he will cross a species one day that might lead to his downfall - only based on the fact he doesnt think any creature would harm him.
