Hagrid told the kids...
"cant nothing interfere with a broomstick except powerful dark magic-no kid could do that to a nimbus two thousand."
my question is there was such a mayhem relating to the broomstick harry got from an unknown person. but there was nothing when the whole of the school+teachers have seen the problem he is facing with his broomstick.
or was it known........?

No "kid" could interfer with a broomstick, but a full grown wizard could. Remember at the time when harry recieved his Firebolt, Sirius was out loose and pressumed to be the murderer of the Potters. If Sirius had been in Voldemort's inner circle, he would have known powerful dark magic and could have hoodwinked the broomstick the way Moody bamboozled the Goblet.

Mer is correct - the issue was because Harry was under threat and suddenly he gets this random gift.
It was asked to be checked to make sure it didnt have any hex's etc performed on it.
It is true that maybe a gifted Kid could do damage to the broom but it would normally require that of an experienced witch or wizard.
All the same given the climate at the time and the issues surrounding Harry - it made sense it had to be fully checked out before his use.

fine, there was sirius on loose, and harry in such condition.............. as far as PoA is concerned....... but dont u think, it was a bit weird that nothing was done to check the broomstick.
we have been given the whole scene in such details, and everyone has noticed that something's happening. some of the HP's related kids noticed snape's doing something to it, by MUTTERING SOMETHING........ etc. but nothing from the teacher for the safety of a kid...........
