Re: JKR: "Dumbledore is gay"

I took her comment with a laugh. My first thought was that the hype died down so quickly that she wanted to stir the pot a little and see what might pop up. Since she never hinted in the slightest...

Re: The Elder Wand

So, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but WHAT WAS VOLDEMORT
THINKING?

We learned that the Elder Wand had to be taken away from its current owner to be possessed by another. The owner of...

Re: trewlaney right the whole time?

I'm not sure how much Trelawney's prophecy had to do with the actually outcome, or if it was even close to the mark when you think about it. As for Harry's death and rebirth, I don't think he was...

Re: Grade the book

Well, I voted 'A' for acceptible. OoTP will always be my favorite and I have read it nine times. But after the first three or four times through, I must admit, I skipped my least favorite chapter,...

Re: Elder Wand - multiple significance?

It has a kind of Lord of the Rings ring to it. You know, the "One Ring" that ruled them all. Maybe the Elder Wand was the first one, the most powerful and mysterious one, and possibly the reason...

Re: September Wizard of the Month...

I'm sort of confused!!

I thought Dumbledore was supposed to be around 150 years old. According to the dates for his birth and death, he was only 115 when he died? How did that come about?

Re: Harry Potter the .....Musical???

All I have to say is STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!. I read somewhere that they were trying to get Daniel Radcliff to do the Harry part. Ummm.... we know he can't dance from GOF, and I can't imagine he...

Re: trewlaney right the whole time?

I don't know if she was right, exactly . . . but what the heck happened to her? Our speculation before DH placed her on the missing list. Was she even mentioned in book 7? I don't recall.

Re: The Elder Wand

Well, since all the books are in Harry's perspective, and we know how much he and Ron paid attention in Binns's class, we can only assume that if the ghostly teacher said anything about the wand, the...

Re: Was Snape Who You Thought?

But if Snape had the wand and did not know its purpose, what would he have done with it? If he did not know what Dumbledore's wand was, it would have been buried in the tomb with Dumbledore, just as...

Re: Perhaps we sort too soon........

If Snape would not have been put into Slytherin in his first year, maybe he would not have made friends with the other Slytherin's that Lily told him were bad. If he had had the opportunity to test...

Re: What Protected Harry?

I can probably buy the fact that Harry's protection at Privet Drive from Dumbledore's charm ended on his 17th birthday, and that was what blocked his presence while there from Voldemort and the Death...

Re: is dumbledore who we thought he was

I can't read half of this post because of the odd colored text, but I believe Dumbledore explained, (or maybe I read about it in JKR's last interview, who knows,) but Dumbledore left them the things...

Re: Missed Clues in Book 7

I noticed it immediately as I read it the first time. Maybe because I have always felt Snape was a fairly good guy. It went right along with the feeling I had when HBP ended. I knew in my heart...

Re: Sorting Hat/Gryffindor Sword

I'm not sure I'm remembering this correctly, but when the sword came to Harry in the Griffindor hat in the chamber, wasn't the sword missing at the time? Or was it always in Dumbledore's office? I...

Re: Was Snape Who You Thought?

That's all part of it, though. The only people who knew that Draco had disarmed Dumbledore on top of the tower was Harry, Dumbledore, and Draco. Of course, Harry did not tell Snape anything after...

Re: Was Snape Who You Thought?

I was looking up stuff for another post and read a few things that really bothered me. I think it bothered me more the second time I read it.

The part where Harry sees Snape's memories of past...

Back to the Gleam in Dumbledore's Eyes

The highly debated passage below still leaves me with questions:

So, I would assume this all was part of how Harry survived his final meeting with Voldemort. This particular quote has always...

Re: the whimpering boy/thing? kings cross

I took that writhing thing on the floor to be the bit of soul that came out of Harry when Voldemort shot the AK at him and took out the bit of soul housed within Harry. Dumbledore said something to...

Re: Was Snape Who You Thought?

I am still curious about Snape's last few moments before Voldemort put Nagini on him. Snape said several times, "Let me go to the boy!"

Did he mean Harry? I got the feeling that Snape was...

Re: What Protected Harry?

So if we disregard Harry's blood protection, which it seems makes sense as Piper said. Harry was no longer protected after his birthday, thus the Order's urgency to get him away from the Dursley's. ...

Re: Was Snape Who You Thought?

But as it turned out, the one thing that saved Snape from worse than just his death was love. If not for his feelings for Lily, and probably a little resentment toward Voldemort for killing her...

What Protected Harry?

I have been mulling this thought over in my mind for a few days and thought I would throw it out there and see what everone else thinks.

We were lead to believe that the reason Harry was protected...

Re: Was Snape Who You Thought?

Yes, I saw that interview on MSN. She said that if not for Snape's love for Lily he would have done nothing to protect Harry. Imagine that! But she did admit he was very brave.

Re: JKR interview - a few more answers

I thiought it was funny when JKR was asked who was the Headmaster of Hogwarts and she had not come up with anyone, but will include that information in the HP encyclopedia

There is also an hour...
