In the same spirit as Alz's "Face of Smugness" thread, I DO believe that I posted a thread on Regulus Black BEFORE the sixth book came out. Please - I must be congratulated ... even if only by myself.
Link to original Regulus thread is here.
And all can see that the date of posting is a good couple of months prior to the release of HBP. And now, we FINALLY got to hear the whole story about him... tee hee. Alz - I think it may be time for me to bask in said "glory".

However, back to Regulus in DH. We see a sort of a pattern to him and Grindelwald. Both started out evil. Both were power hungry and oftentimes cruel. And both wound up feeling remorse for what they did. Grindelwald in prison, and Regulus whilst still amongst the Death Eaters. And so, the elusive RAB wound up acting very bravely and aiding the journey along the path to Voldemort's destruction.

Love from,

"There is no good and evil. There is only power, and those too weak to seek it."

"I was ripped from my body, I was less than spirit, less than the meanest ghost- but still, I was alive."

"I, who have gone further than anybody along the path that leads to immortality. You know my goal- to conquer death."

Re: Regulus

I actually grew to like Regulus a lot more than I thought I would. I knew he was a good guy because he, too, turned his back on the Death Eaters and not only decided to simply quit / die, but worked to help bring Voldemort down with him. I think the bit involving Kreacher was pretty well thought out [on his part] and liked that he sacrificed his own life and sent Kreacher to finish off the job.

This was all pretty impressive considering how old he was at this point. Also, it is very interesting that Voldemort would have asked one of the Death Eaters' for help with an elf, not because of the act itself [he tends to take things from the DE all the time: Wormtails hand, Lucius' wand, etc.] but because he saw the Horcruxes are so secret that he would even risk to have someone else know about them. Although, I guess it makes sense in the long run because Kreacher wasn't supposed to survive the trip across the lake, and Voldemort clearly does underestimate the powers of those he sees as "insignificant" creatures.

"Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory."

Re: Regulus

That was pretty incredible George. Congradulations to you. I didn't realize how incredible until I read the actual thread Before book 6 you knew, very good.

Re: Regulus

George, that was really good.
Predicting something like that even before book 6 was brilliant.
But then again, I have read your writings and your skills are definitely justified.

Re: Regulus

Congrats George on the great catch! I remember figuring out when I read HBP that RAB was sure to be Regulus, and thinking myself right smart got right on here to see that others had already come to the same conclusion (Hate that it takes me so long to read the books with the kids running around! always miss out on the early stuff!) Anyway Cudos!
