Is the Title Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, or Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows?

The first sounds like the Deathly Hallows are artifacts of some sort. The second, like a place - possible an archaic name for Godric's Hollow.

Sorry for that confusion.
I will correct the mistake.....
it is Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows

The title just seems very very eerie to me.

but i think that its a good thing. i connect eerie to mysterious,

I just hope that the book answers questions we still have!!

Good Luck on that one LOL:rolleyes: I think us "diggers" have come up with more questions than a full shelf full of books could'nt answer, let alone one!

Honestly I believe the most pressing questions will be resolved to our satisfaction, and possibly more on JKR's site, but I think some things will never be known.

I think many (myself very much included) are taking a work of FICTION entirely too seriously, but . . . it's all in fun! and JKR has made it fun!

I have to say that I tend to agree somewhat SPF. I know that JKR is some bright woman but there are also some very bright contributors to these threads and to other online sites. If JKR had thought of every scenario that has been raised, been aware of every biblical and other reference, have been aware of every comparison that has been made she would have to be a genius and a considerably older genius than she is.

I am sure that much of what has been raised is coincidence and many theories no more than wild speculation.

I am equally sure that I have never got such pleasure out of a series of books before in my life and much of that has been because of the level of debate on this site. I thank you all.

Amen to that.
I also have to agree on the points made by both of you.
The only series that came near to the compare was LOTR for me.
But HP has become the epitome of what great books are.
I have been so unsuccessful in selling the greatness of these books to my wife, or sister, or cousins or friends, who are not into it too much.
They just think I am a freak  :D
I know for sure that, there is no way even half of the questions are going to be answered. But we made it a Battle none the less. :) This has been the best HP fan site I have found. And that is saying something. :p
I cant wait till the book comes out, and of course the movies too. But once these are done, I hope JKR starts something fresh. Because down the road, someone will pick up from where it was left off........

Yes! As much as all of us die-hard fans would wish otherwise, there is no way she could answer every idea that's out there. :D The sharing of ideas and debating will hopefully go on for generations to enjoy...

That's so sad cagedcactus:( I can definately sympathize though, my husband also doesn't get it at all! I'm lucky though because my mom and my daughter are into it as much as me-boy can we have some pretty heated debates. I'm so glad you found this site-I think it is the coolest thing that all of us fans around the world can share such a love of these books together. Can you imagine many years from now- how many first time readers will wish they were right here, in this moment in time..we've got a rare opportunity here!:D :D

It is nice to see that you are in the same boat. :D
I have so many friends and co-workers who are like that woman in Georgia, Laura Mellory or what ever her name is.
Most of the people who dont care for HP, think that it is some kind of Witchcraft, or Wiccan promoting books........
All I say to them is, only thing you can do is read a book from the series, and you will know. But they are hopeless. JKR didnt make it easy either, by releasing a title like "Deathly Hallows". Now they all think that the books are definitely evil. :D
My wife is not at all in the books. She does watch the movies. She also helped me with the grammer on a fan fiction I wrote. But she thinks that I am just too much into it.
Oh well, you cant win them all. I am sure my new born daughter will turn out a fan. :)
I will read her these stories as soon as she can understand, that is.

End quote.

I don't think that JKR has considered all of the implications of her books - but she doesn't need to, because she had the masterstroke of choosing mythological images that contain so much of their own significance that the mere reiteration of them produces profound resonances within each of us.

There is a reason these symbols have survived - I think it is because they function as perfect metaphors of psychologically embedded truths. By tapping into them, JKR is giving a somewhat mystical experience - an experience we know we are in the grip of when we sit here typing into the night to discuss it; when we will weather the comments of friends and loved ones, because we know there is something more here.

In summary, the books have tapped into us so deeply because the mythic symbols JKR has chosen are hard wired into us, as humans.

Hmm, I think I'm a fan. :D It definitely seems like a creepy / eerie title to me, but with all the deaths that are supposed to occur in Book 7, it sounds gosh darned appropriate! I feel like "Deathly Hallows" will wind up being a place or object or name for something [as Alz mentioned, all the rest of them have..] and that interests me even further!

.. gotta say i'm with Padma though! There's a title for book 7 now! ;) :D

Great inputs....
I was just thinking something.
The name of the book suggests, and the statement by JKR on possible deaths. I dont know how she is going to tackle this for Children's version. If she kills Harry in adult version, would she really kill him in children's version too?
Badside of witchcraft and wizardry is going to surface in book 7. A lot of it will be backbone to the stroy, which means it can not be avoided in either version. How do you guys think is JKR going to tackle that?
I had my cousins over this weekend, and my Niece (10) said that she will hate JKR if she killed Harry, and will never read the books again.
Now I know that she might change her mind later, but the possibility of losing a lot of little readers is definitely there, isnt it?
How is JKR going to work on that?

CC,
I don't understand "children's version" and "adult's version"
There is only 1 book 7 "The Deathly Hallows" 1 version.
Or did I miss some announcement?

Have you read the previous 6 books for both versions?
I am sure you will see the differences if you did....

Now this sounds as if your memory was brimming with weighty examples ... Could you just name one or two, please?

This is the first time I've ever heard of differences between the adult and children versions - apart from the cover.

boy....
this is surprising. I have been reading them to my little niece. I hope they are authentic.... :D
Maybe it is time to check for their validity....

phew....
finally found the story behind this. These books are more like kids bedtime stories. I called the publisher, and they confirmed the authenticity. But JKR doesnt look into this. She is not controlling them. She just earns a piece of Royalty on it. :D
Sorry about the confusion......
For a long time I thought they were direct from JKR.
These are in multiple language too.... The one I read to my niece is more like a compact version. A spark note kind of thing....

Thanks for the info. :)

I still can't find them in the US. Do they use the same titles? Author listed as JKR?

Although, since I'm trying to cut my library by half this year, I probably shouldn't even be asking.... *sigh*

The 'Deathly Hallows' might refer to the consecrated ground in the Department of Mysteries where death is studied - amphitheatre and stone dias...........

I thought the only difference between the adult version and the childrens version were just the book covers. They make the Adult covers less colorful so the grwon-ups don't feel like dorks when they are reading them out on public.

That is what I heard anyway
